The Alliance Difference
The Alliance exists to provide a united association of organizations focused on the accreditation of Multisensory Structured Language Education training courses and the certification of graduates of those courses. The Alliance has represented the highest level of training and achievement for academic language practitioners, academic language therapists and classroom dyslexia specialists for more than 25 years.
Who is the Alliance?
The Alliance is comprised of three organizations: The International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC), The Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA), and Wilson Language Training (WLT).
What is the Alliance?
The uniting organizations of the Alliance represent training, accreditation, and certification programs led by expert trainers who themselves have been through the highest levels of practicum experience and taught many individuals with dyslexia. The Alliance recognizes that individuals with a diagnosed language-learning disability or dyslexia require specialized and diagnostic instruction from a highly trained individual. Each of these organizations is committed to rigorous standards, including a practicum mentored by a highly qualified/properly authorized trainer.
Each organization has been in existence for over 25 years, and combined, have certified more than 50,000 individuals in the US; certify approximately 3,000 individuals per year; and have their training programs affiliated with 45 colleges and universities. Each organization’s training content and protocols have been thoroughly reviewed and recognized by the International Dyslexia Association.
What sets the Alliance apart?
All Alliance members ascribe to multisensory structured language (MSL) methodologies and have extensive, documented coursework, field experiences and required practicums. Each candidate for certification, regardless of organization, must be capable of demonstrating knowledge of theory and practice and able to successfully apply that knowledge and those practices to the needs of struggling readers under the direction of a highly experienced trainer.
How does the Alliance help our community?
Alliance member organizations provide highly trained individuals to instruct those with dyslexia and related disorders. Among these individuals are: classroom teachers, reading specialists and interventionists, dyslexia therapists, tutors, and special educators delivering thousands of hours of reading intervention annually.
